Wyless, the Global Network Enabler (GNE), has been selected to provide global managed services to Activ4Life, a leading player in activity monitoring for hospital patients. Used primarily with orthopaedic patients, The Activ4Life ProV3.8 Remote Activity Monitoring System is designed to monitor and analyse patient activity. The system comprises an easy to use activity monitor and a dock that transmits the activity information automatically via a wireless network to a secure server for analysis. Weekly reports are then sent to the user and monthly reports to the clinicians responsible for that user’s care. Additionally, the system allows patients to record their pain levels. This gives clinicians a valuable, previously unavailable diagnostic tool to improve decision making, aid healthcare results, improve patient outcomes, and offers cost savings at all levels in the health service and in the community. Wyless’s Open Connectivity is embedded in the Activ4Life ProV3.8 to enable managed, robust global connectivity for the transferring of data from the dock to the server, the user, and their clinician. By pre-enabling the ProV3.8 with Wyless capabilities and connectivity, Activ4Life can provide a ‘plug-and-play’ device for their customers, such as hospitals, hospices, and orthopaedic suppliers, reducing the TCO and dramatically increasing the ROI by allowing easy and rapid deployment. At the same time, customers also benefit from a secure connection, via a fixed-IP solution, which is vital for the transmission of sensitive or confidential medical data. Activ4Life also benefits from the availability of Wyless’s open management platform, Porthos, an intelligent internet/API-based network/device management tool that allows visibility, control and flexibility to manage the SIMs, such as tracking usage, provisioning of the application, technical fault searches and financial information. “We have high quantities of low volume data packets being transmitted constantly,” stated Dr Ian Revie, CEO of Activ4Life, “As a result, we needed a wireless networking partner who could offer a low-cost tariff and could enable us to continue to lower the overall cost of medical care.” “Also key to this decision was the need for security, due to the nature of the information we work with. Wyless’s secure fixed-IP global connectivity meant that, for us, they had the whole package”, continued Dr Revie. Wyless enables organisations such as Activ4Life to outsource the management of their wireless networks, removing the need to develop and manage complex and costly infrastructure, and lowering total cost of ownership (TCO). Rami Avidan, CEO of Wyless, commented, “This partnership demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the healthcare sector. We fully support the innovative and life-changing services that Activ4Life provide and we’re pleased that our solution is helping them and their customers and clients improve medical well-being whilst lowering costs for users.” -ends- .
