Onset Computer Corporation is a world leader in data logger solutions. The company has been producing small, inexpensive, battery-powered data loggers and embedded controllers since 1981, and has sold over 1,000,000 loggers that are used throughout the world by over 50,000 customers.
Onset was preparing to launch their first cell-based, GPRS-enabled data logging system, the HOBO U30. However, with this advance in logger technology came the need for improvement in data connectivity. The main challenge for Onset was integrating global, reliable wireless connections in their new product as effectively and quickly as possible to maximise profits and minimise time to market.
The secondary challenge came after the launch of the HOBO U30, as the need became apparent for a set of bespoke usage packages for customers, to suit their individual data requirements, thereby improving their customer experience and maximising revenues for Onset.
Wyless provided Onset with a robust, global managed wireless network, as well as Managed Services, allowing it to leverage Wyless’ infrastructure and expertise, to enable quick, simple deployment of the HOBO U30.
The Wyless Management Platform has given Onset visibility and control of their wireless connections and allows them to manage their devices accordingly. This has improved overall efficiencies and contributed towards the successful launch of the HOBO U30.
Onset has taken full advantage of Wyless’ expertise, from proof of concept trials to ongoing project management, throughout the prototype phase and thenproduction of the HOBO U30 to release their product to the market quickly and efficiently.
By using one supplier to provide a robust network for global connectivity, Onset’s offering has been scaled effectively to accommodate their customers’ international needs quickly, without costly investment in network infrastructure or valuable time spent negotiating and managing multiple contracts with network operators globally. This flexibility in customer choice also extends to the variety ofusage plans Wyless can offer Onset, enabling it to pass on efficiencies and cost-savings to customers.
Wyless’ Network and Managed Services are inherently scalable, safe-guarding Onset against the need to redefine connectivity options as a result of future product development.
"We have been able to leverage Wyless’ knowledge and expertise in rolling out the HOBO Remote Monitoring System, which has proved invaluable. The prototype testing combined with ongoing project management made deployment much faster. Wyless have made it very easy to do business with them."
