Case Study - Rascal, Sainsbury's, Tesco

Background

Over 8,000 magazine titles are published in the UK each year and the number continues to rise.

Rascal Solutions provide a magazine range and returns solution to retailers and recently developed a centralised control system for use by newsagents and supermarkets, including Sainsbury's and Tesco. The device used is the Symbol MC9094.

The Problems

The solution needed to be deployed without requiring retailers to invest heavily in new infrastructure. It was also important that the system was easy to use with data being transmitted automatically back to the central server.

The Solution

By opting for a wireless solution and the Wyless Network in particular, there was no requirement to install hardware locally. Our network provided a Fixed IP address for each device. This made it possible for the central server to check for information updates on the devices continually, negating the need for users to do training or to do anything other than enter data on the Symbol device.

The Result

The result is significant time and labour saving on the ground; real-time data about stock levels and a much more effective process for controlling and moving stock.

The SIMs in the devices are controlled using the Wyless Management Platform. Efficiency has been improved and waste levels reduced.
