When the City of Denver set out to replace the 5,000 aging parking meters with newer technology , city engineer and deputy manager of Denver Public Works, Lesley Thomas said it didn’t matter how the meters worked – as long as they’d accomplish the city’s major goals. These goals included accepting credit card payment at the meters, gaining the ability to offer overnight parking without having to install thousands of signs across the city to covey parking parameters, and eliminating labour-intensive manual meter programming processes. The smart meter solution Denver chose from IPS Group was able to meet these needs. IPS Group partners included T-Mobile, Telit Wireless Solutions and Wyless.
